Lake Wanaka was a key fixture on our lightening South Island visit. We had done our best to out-manoeuvre the weather, but this time our luck ran out. We camped nearby the night before to howling winds that buffeted the campervan. My morning alarm went off. It was still blowing a gale and threatening rain. I got up anyway, determined to try.
The only way to calm the choppy waters was to use my darkest ND filter and hold the camera steady for the 30 second exposure, which was very tricky with the wind. This was my only usable shot. I've been told it's unique. Now you know why!
